Bamboo Removal in Lake Buena Vista

Cutting bamboo to the ground rarely ends it. The roots keep sending up shoots. We remove the canes and the underground rhizomes, explain what kind of bamboo you have, and tell you plainly what follow-up it may need.

Why Bamboo Keeps Coming Back

Bamboo grows from a mat of underground stems called rhizomes. The canes you see are only the top half. If the rhizomes stay in the soil, they push up new shoots within weeks, and in Central Florida warmth they keep growing most of the year.

There are two broad kinds. Clumping bamboo stays in a tight circle and spreads slowly outward. Running bamboo sends rhizomes sideways, sometimes many feet at a time, under fences, lawns and walkways. Knowing which one you have decides how much digging the job takes and whether a root barrier makes sense.

We are a family-owned company, and we walk the stand with you before any work starts. You will know what type it is, how far it has likely spread, and what each option means for your yard.

What Our Bamboo Removal Includes

Cutting and hauling the canes

We cut every cane at the base and haul the material off your property. Mature canes are heavy and tough to bag, so you will not be left with a pile at the curb.

Digging out the rhizome mass

We dig and lift the root mat, following runners as far as they go. Sandy Florida soil helps here, since the rhizomes come out more completely than they would from clay.

Tracing runners near fences and beds

Running bamboo often hides under mulch, sod and fence lines. We probe along the edges and show you any runners heading toward your lawn or a neighbor's yard.

Root barrier, if you are keeping some

If you want to keep part of a stand as a screen, we can install a rigid plastic root barrier around it. We explain how deep it goes and why the top edge has to stay above the soil.

Grading and a clean finish

We backfill the holes and rake the area level. If you want new sod, mulch beds or plants there, we can do that through our sod installation or mulch and beds services.

Signs It Is Time to Remove Your Bamboo

  • Shoots popping up in the lawn

Green spikes coming up through grass several feet from the main stand mean runners are spreading underground.

  • It crossed the fence

Bamboo that reaches a neighbor's yard is a common source of friction. Removing it on your side and cutting off the runners stops the spread.

  • Pressure on pavers or slabs

Rhizomes can lift pavers and edging and crowd up against a pool deck or driveway. Catching it early keeps the repair small.

  • Dead canes and a dense, dark thicket

Older stands fill with dry, gray canes that block light, collect leaf litter and give rodents a place to nest.

  • Sprinkler heads getting swallowed

Thick bamboo can bury or crush irrigation lines and heads, leaving dry patches in nearby beds.

How a Bamboo Job Runs

  1. 1

    Walkthrough and plain explanation

We look at the stand, check the edges for runners and identify the type. Then we explain your options, from full removal to keeping a contained section, and give you a free estimate by phone or in person.

  2. 2

    Marking what to protect

Before cutting, we flag sprinkler lines, valve boxes and plants you want to keep. If utility lines run nearby, we have them located first.

  3. 3

    Cutting, digging and hauling

We clear the canes, then dig out the rhizome mass and the runners we can trace. Most of the mess leaves with us the same day the digging finishes.

  4. 4

    Watching for regrowth

Small pieces of rhizome can still sprout. We tell you what new shoots look like and how to snap them off early, so the leftover roots run out of energy.

What Affects the Cost of Bamboo Removal

Every stand is different, so we price after seeing it. Your estimate lists the cutting, the digging, hauling and any barrier or restoration as separate lines so you can see where the money goes. If removal is one part of a bigger yard project, you can spread the cost with financing of up to $100,000, paid back over 2 to 12 years, and paying it off early never costs you a penalty.

Size and age of the stand
A young clump is a short job. An old stand with canes thicker than your wrist and a dense root mat takes far more digging.
Running or clumping type
Running bamboo means tracing runners across the yard, which adds labor. Clumping bamboo is usually contained to one spot.
Access and nearby structures
Stands tight against a fence, pool cage or slab have to be dug by hand rather than with equipment, which takes longer.
Disposal volume
Bamboo is bulky. The more cane and root material there is, the more loads it takes to haul away.
Barrier and restoration
Installing a root barrier, laying sod or rebuilding a bed afterward adds to the total, and we price each separately.

Bamboo Removal Questions

Something not covered here? (407) 305-2563

Can I just cut the bamboo down and mow the shoots?

You can, and constant cutting does weaken it over time, but it usually takes a long while in our climate. The rhizomes store enough energy to keep sending shoots for many months. Digging them out is the faster way to be done with it.

Will the bamboo grow back after you remove it?

A few shoots may appear from small rhizome pieces left deep in the soil or under a slab. That is normal and does not mean the job failed. Snapping them off as they appear finishes the stand off, and we show you what to look for.

Do you use chemicals to kill the roots?

Our approach is mechanical: cutting and digging. We will talk through the options during the walkthrough, including why spraying alone tends to struggle against a large, established root system.

Can you remove only part of my bamboo and keep the rest as a privacy screen?

Yes. We remove the section you do not want and can install a root barrier around what stays. That keeps the screen while limiting where the runners can go.

My bamboo is right against the fence and pool deck. Is that a problem for you?

No, but it does mean slower, more careful digging by hand. We are business licensed and fully insured, which gives you real protection when heavy root work happens close to fences, pools and property lines. We also mark sprinkler lines and anything fragile before the first cut.

What happens to the bare spot afterward?

We level it and leave it clean. If you want it finished, we can lay sod, build a mulch bed or plan something new through our landscape design service.
